CARE GUIDE
Every Luxotic piece is made to be lived with, loved, and admired. Our fabrics are chosen for their texture, depth, and artistry - from smooth cottons to rich velvets and intricate jacquards. With the right care, your pieces will maintain their colour, softness, and beauty for years to come.

GENERAL CARE
- Always read the label before washing or drying your items.
- Separate light and dark colours to avoid colour transfer.
- Use a mild liquid detergent and avoid bleach or optical brighteners.
- Wash in cold or warm water on a gentle cycle to preserve the fibres.
- Avoid overloading the machine to prevent creasing and friction damage.

DRYING
- Line dry in the shade whenever possible to prevent fading.
- If using a dryer, select a low heat, gentle cycle.
- Remove promptly from the machine to minimise wrinkles.
- Avoid over-drying, as excessive heat can weaken fibres.

IRONING & STEAMING
- Most cottons and jacquards can be warm-ironed on the reverse side.
- For velvets or textured fabrics, steam rather than press to maintain pile and shape.
- Always test on a small, hidden area first if unsure.

STORING
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Ensure fabrics are completely dry before storing.
- For long-term storage, use breathable cotton or linen bags rather than plastic, to allow air circulation and prevent mildew.
Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL
Use a gentle cold or warm wash cycle with mild detergent. Avoid bleach, optical brighteners, or fabric softeners, which can damage fibres and dull colours. Wash dark and light colours separately.
Yes. On a low, gentle setting. However, we recommend line drying in the shade whenever possible to preserve the texture and colour of the fabric.
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Ensure items are completely dry before storing. For long-term storage, use breathable cotton or linen bags rather than plastic to allow air circulation and prevent mildew.
Dry cleaning is not generally required and may reduce the fabric’s natural softness over time. For delicate or decorative items (such as velvet or embroidery), professional cleaning is acceptable.
Avoid overloading the washing machine, as friction can stiffen fibres. Use gentle detergent, avoid fabric softeners, and line dry where possible. Over time, most fabrics will naturally become softer with each wash.
COTTON
Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold or warm water. Line dry in the shade or tumble dry on low. Iron on medium heat if needed. Avoid bleach.
Minimal shrinkage (3–5%) can occur on first wash. To minimise it, wash in cool or warm water and avoid high heat in the dryer.
VELVET
Velvet is best handled gently. If the label allows, use a delicate cycle with cold water and mild detergent. Otherwise, professional cleaning is recommended.
Steam lightly from the back or hang in a steamy bathroom to release crushed pile. Avoid direct ironing or pressing the fabric.
JACQUARD & DOBBY FABRICS
Both refer to woven patterns. Jacquard uses a complex weave to create raised designs, while dobby produces small geometric textures. Both are techniques rather than specific fabric types.
Wash gently in cold or warm water with mild detergent. Avoid vigorous agitation or high spin speeds to preserve the weave pattern. Line dry flat or on a rack in the shade.
COLOUR & TEXTURE
All natural fabrics can fade slightly with repeated washing or sun exposure. Line dry in the shade to keep colours vibrant.
We recommend washing similar textures and colours together to prevent pilling or fibre transfer. For example, wash velvet separately from coarse cottons.
